an old question

two decades has passed.
it is nowonder some score seems "absurd" at that time.

since youtube appear some of them prove with ease.
fatal fury 2 has 10 million points trick and nowaday, you can show it easily.

41 million.

and ryger 11.5 million , bosconian 10m are proven by marper.
these decades, some gamest record holders attend and leave (some of them still staying) marp.
but a big question still remain.

"what is klax gamest record?"


I reserched all old gamest magazine and I found answer.
are there anyone interested in this issue?

I know this game little, but years ago I searched for information.

At first the scores rankings differed between

- Easy Select On
- Easy Select Off

However after a few months the high score ranking was interrupted for the discovery of an infinite pattern.

From 30-08-1990 the Gamest staff decided to collect the high scores with the option Difficult Ramping (Yes).

Player "Rag.t-tem" after several high scores reached 14.158.090 points in 02/28/1991. To date this is still the best score.

After 20 years from the discovery in the West of Gamest records, almost all the big Japanese scores have been clarified, but there are still secrets, that the champions of 30 years ago haven't revealed.

most of your reserchs are right.
this game has 2 switchs.
difficulty level setting and difficulty ramping.

difficulty level setting is setting of speed and amount of tiles.
difficulty ramping is "yes no" setting, this game always difficulty level up gradually.
when you clear each stages,diffuculy level will be reset (ramping no) or not reset (ramping yes).
and limit of difficulty level does not consider possibility "playable or not".

factory default setting is "difficulty level easy level / difficulty ramping is no "

From gamest #46 (June 1990)
Klax score was stage 92(select on) and stage 62 (select no)
mentioned about ramping yes. "we can not uderstand why they make such a setting"

From gamest #47(July 1990)
11,610,971 wave 100 finish.(easy ramping no)
mentioned about next month, we also will aggregate ramping yes next month."

From gamest #48(august 1990) (it mentioned about imbincible tricke of gradius 3)
easy/raming no was recognized as endless leeching game.
only aggregated "easy/ramping yes".high score is 3,923,594.
games rule is "more stage is winner." in otherwords, score record means all 100 wave finisher.

gamest #49 (september 1990)
does not have new klax record.

gamest #50 (october 1990) (this one introduces sefety spot of raiden #6 and #8 boss)
7,784,262 (same person of final record holder) and it was easy/yes.

gamest #51(november 1990)
8,139,652(same person of final record holder) easy/yes.

gamest #52(december 1990)
12,383,344(same person of final record holder)easy/yes.

...and final score will be 14.5M

weastern setting is "moderate/yes" and remaining japanese record is "easy/yes"
difference are from factory default setting.


At that time, many Western default settings did not allow the game to be played sufficiently.
(For example, the default of Dragon Saber was 0 life, 0 remaining aircraft, and no extend.)
On the other hand, in Japan, it was shipped by default to become a game.

it is the reason why impossible 14.5 M was remain. thanks.

In 2000, The Player ACU-H.S has been achieved 11.5 million score in Rygar. And it is sure, in that time this score was impossible to think in west world..!! But 12.6 million score was really Absurd.. !! And even ACU-H.S was not able to achieve it.. now this huge problem has been solved also as 12.6 million score has made up on HARD DIFFICULTY level.. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15578&hilit
And i hope, it has been disputed..!!
I talked with Japanese players and we agreed that on HARD difficulty level 13 million score is possible..!!
