Quick update:
Appears to be related to Lua, and affects mostly computer/console drivers more than anything else. There is minimal slowdown in PCE/TG16, about 2-3% only, compared to about 15-20% in the PCE/TG16-based Tourvision driver, however. Still no fix yet.

Quickly cobbled together a simple playback toolbar button.

Browse option on playback doesn't do anything yet, I intend to use the file manager (or something similar) to make for an optional easy file selection.
And yes, I am aware than my artistic skills do suck. ;)

That's very good. Thanks for your investigation and efforts. I will try the next version...

Further update:
Slowdowns should be more or less solved now.

Got INP playback option more or less working now.

Do note that it will automatically truncate the path from the filename, since MAME does not accept paths for -playback. So, traversing directories/drives/zipfiles won't be useful.

If you want to try it out, you can clone the source from github, and switch to the 'ui_extra' branch. Or download the source from https://github.com/mahlemiut/wolfmame/tree/ui_extra (click the Download ZIP button). Then compile it. ;)

For more general help on using MAME, try here: http://docs.mamedev.org/
It's a little out of date, but should be enough to get anyone started.

I installed 175 last weekend for the IGBY tourney and not being very MAME savvy haven't used much of anything else other than 106 in the past. Just wanted to say thanks Barry, the UI makes it uber easy for noobs like myself to submit for the tourney and am really digging stepping into the present now with my MAME setup.

Cheers

Steve
