Yes - this is a great achievement - Well done Jonathan!
I think this is the furthest anyone on MARP has reached.

I think the secret rooms only occur every 30 levels or so - so does that mean that you need to play to level 150 (assuming 5 secret rooms) to see all of the rooms?

Marvelous bomber man world record has set. 5.85million.
It is the special point to be considered that Gamest record is 4,769,800.(1 million+ higher)

And if you ever get to see him play in person, you'll get to hear him humming/singing the tunes of the game while he's playing!

The 1.13m donkey kong replay of up2ng is incredible: http://replay.marpirc.net/inp/5/b/a/up_ ... olf106.zip

Even if you don't want to watch the whole thing, watch the play of the 1st level. It is top notch.

These all look interesting, but isn't it annoying having to download a thousand versions of MAME just to view each one? Or are specific versions backwards compatible? (e.g. WolfMAME138 is backwards compatible with, say, WolfMAME106, etc.?)

In general, you have to match the equivalent version. Also, same versions of MAME and X-MAME (0.106 and earlier, X-MAME is now defunct) are mostly (not always) compatible if you match the 68000 CPU cores.
For 0.107 and up, MAME and SDLMAME (any platform) should be fully compatible, although there might be a few 32-bit<->64-bit inconsistencies. Compatibility would certain change for some games if MAME is built without the DRC CPU cores in games that use them (generally nothing that does is fast enough on any system, anyway).

It's times like this that we need a standalone .inp player like a video player. Oh well, maybe sometime in the future. ;)

Would be even more difficult, since INPs only record the input ports (Controls and DIP switches). You'd still need an emulation core that functions identically to the specific version of MAME that it was recorded in. Videos use up too much bandwidth for me, which is why I take little interest in them.
There was a simple frontend I wrote, as an exercise in learning C#, which would list and download INPs from MARP and you then chose a MAME executable to run it through. It's still a WIP, but it should work to some extent (hopefully). Can't remember if I actually mentioned it here before or not, it's been a while since I last looked at it.

What the "player" needs to do is: give you a marp uploads like interface, so you can see the recent uploads or search for specific uploads by game/player/version name, Then when you select an upload it will download it, along with the downloading the correct mame version, extract the mame version to a mame version(s) cache dir, extract the inp to the inp dir of that cache dir, and then play it back. Giving extra command line options that are relative to the version being used, especially to select the rom dirs and such (user configureable through a gui). The later part I have working, I just don't have the download gui part working. Barry you did mention it but i don't think you released the source? or maybe i just forgot about it too, what VS version did you use to make it? vs2008 maybe?

CooL! An inp-player prototype in the making! (sort of) :D
Can't wait to see how that turns out, and if it's viable...
Great idea & good job guys, you were already awesome to begin with 8)
