WCC8 week 5 : BUGGYBOY

Post by Phil Lamat »

The last week, with a driving game.
For final rankings, I will take the 6 best scores on buggyboy-o (offroad) so you will need on this easy circuit to focus on driving AND picking points with flags.

But if you want also bonus points, you will have to play on the 5 circuits :
1 bonus point for finishing buggyboy-o
BUT ALSO
1 bonus point for finishing buggyboy-e
1 bonus point for finishing buggyboy-n
1 bonus point for finishing buggyboy-s
1 bonus point for finishing buggyboy-w
(any input with any score will be enough)

PS:
on Marp you have only scores on the clone (buggyboyjr) but now that the parent rom is working, we play with the parent

Good luck!

An old page, not updated.
From MAWS :
0.130u1: Changed Buggy Boy/Speed Buggy (cockpit) from a clone of Buggy Boy Junior/Speed Buggy (Upright) to parent. Phil Bennett fixed Buggy Boy/Speed Buggy (cockpit) - Game now playable

So game is playable, you must use m131 or later

Offroad is not very difficult to finish when you get used to the controls. I think 100.000 pts can be targeted with perfect driving and a bit of luck on the bonuses.
On the other hand, finishing east, west, north and south is a real challenge in my opinion. It widely deserves 1 bonus point. Maybe it should be more rewarding than finishing offroad ?

The idea is to give a max of 5 bonus points for special tasks on each game.
I can't give more bonus points here, it would favourize this game compared to others.

Game seems to go slower if you use the 3 screens aspect.

During game, Push TAB and go in the Video Options.

Select one of the screen 1 aspect.

Try it :-)

I have a very slow framerate too but with frameskip 5 i manage to remain over 95%.

The controls are not exactly the same and i found them to be even stiffer than on the clone version. It also seems to be faster, and overall harder to play... so congrats to RedStar for finishing WEST ! bien joué mec ! =D> (even though that's no surprise considering your driving skills).

Nice score by Sawys, nearly 100k =D> Almost perfect on the bonuses, smooth driving but still some room for improvement i guess, as long as you had minor crashes.
