WCC6 rules... afterthoughs

Just to report... this was my opinion since the beginning of the WCC6, but I am reporting only now, after the end.

I don't liked the new "extra points" system Phil created in this 6th edition. It is highly favorable to players that have more time to play, and some times (or everytime) these points are very higher... at the final of the week the best player (score) will have less or equal points of other players that won the extra points... it is not so "just" IMO.

The prior system, used in WCC5 (max 3 bonus points, due the day #2, #4 and #6 leader) is more "fair".

Other thing to be pointed is the "spirit" of WCC is to focus seriously in only one game by week, to help all players get stellar marks in that game. With the rule "extra points are allowed until the last day of competition" seems like "jam" this "spirit".

In short, this new system is more "dynamic", however is not the best way to be used in the next competitions. Things to be discussed before the next edition.

Again, congratulations guys!

I like the idea of the bonus points, as it encourages people to actually finish games instead of finding the ultimate leech point. They are, however, probably a bit too high. Maybe 2-3 bonus points per task (depending on the task) would be more worthwhile.

By the way, I like to see games being finished, but I think it is not so "healthy". You will need to play the game by 2 different ways, with 2 different styles. The prior "Day#2" leader point is different.

I was just testing this year.
I think special bonus points are good, because we have seen some finished inputs (sstriker) we wouldn't probably have without these special pts.
Maybe you're right, they have too much weight, I will certainly decrease for next year.
But I like the idea that they can be picked up till the end of the tourney. I was fed up : last 3 years, the winner was known before end of last week and nobody played. Note it wasn't better this year, but at least Pat wasn't mathematically winner, even if it was requiring from DoubleG to finish blockblock & toobin the same week:)

For all that, I will probably launch a vote before tourney next year.

I think bonus and extra points are very good.
