Mame60

Post by Phil Younger »

I just loaded Mame60 to my computer.
It lights up but does not play any game
roms I loaded up. I have been using
Win35b5 and Wintg3 but am having
problems with this version as I want to
play and confirm the new games coming
out. Phil

Uhh... Just a bit more info than that would be rather helpful.

Ok, I pressed play for a game
then an error message comes
up. It reads required files are missing,
the game cannot be run. So the
Mame60 is not reading the rom
which is in the same file as Mame60
I had no problem with roms for Wintg3.
Maybe I got the Mame60 at the wrong site.

Phil,

Is there a mame.ini file in your mame60 folder with the mame.exe file? If not then open a command window and enter "mame -cc" at the command prompt (without the quotes).

Once you have an mame.ini file then open it with a text editor and edit the line starting with "rompath" to point to your roms - they may be in one of your other mame folders.

If you have any other problems I recommend the FAQ at the official MAME site http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html, it's got a lot of good advice.

Cheers,
Tim

Is it me or do I think the actual ROMs may have changed between MAME 35 TG 3 and MAME 60?

I think GB's assessment is correct, but if you're trying to play a clone of a game, you must download both the original and clone ROMs.
