T12 - Rules and Games - Clasification

T12 - Rules

They are very similar to previous tournaments except that ten games will be played through eight weeks. In two Wednesday of the eight weeks the coordinator will introduce a second set for this week.It is not necessary to play to ten games to take part at the tournament but the winner must have played at least eight games.

Election of games
Each member of MARP may vote for three games. The vote will take place one week before the tournament. With the elected games there will be a drawing to choose eight games and two games will be chosen by the coordinator.
The coordinator may change the default settings of the game or put additional rules (eg, number of levels reached, over punctuation).

Score System
The scoring per game will be (first position to last) 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 if there are 10 players.
The scoring per game will be (first position to last) 20 17 15 13 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 1 1 1... if there are more than 10 players. 1 Point to all the players that submitted any score.
In each round can have a maximum of 45 extra points.

Election of dates
It will be subject to voting during two week from today.

Version of MAME used
Wolfmameplus 0.106 or 0.141 to simplify confirms, except special cases.

Length of contest
The length of the contest will be from 0000 GMT+1 of the 1st of January until the 25 of February at 00:00 GMT+1

Other
General rules of MARP are valid (first credit, 95% of speed, etc.).
Techniques that are banned on MARP regulation play will not be allowed in this tournament.
No recording can be uploading 48 hours after you recorded it. --> All players have to sumbit an inp before 48 hours since it was recorded. The reason of this is avoid or try to avoid that some players hide their score until the last moment (especially if the score is very high and can change the first places in the overall). The input file has a timestamp but I have heard that can be changed easilly using the windows clock. There isn't a simple way to check that situation. So, we should rely on the sportmanship of each player. Of course, you can upload all the inps you want without waiting time between inps submitted. The unique restriction is the limit of 48 hours mentioned above.
In the topic of each game is mandatory to post the score.

Next days i will put the votings for dates and games.

Two extra games will be added by me at any time so stay tuned ...

Round 1 --> Mad Shark (madshark) --> edusword
Round 2 --> Galaga (galaga) --> 1up
Round 3 --> Punch-Out (punchout) Hardest Settings --> Chufoglu
Round 4 --> Snacks'n Jaxson (snakjack) --> Fordy
Round 5 --> Chopper 1 (Chopper) default settings of arcade machine (only 2 extra lives), not default settings of last versions of MAME (a lot of extra lives) --> edusword
Round 6 --> Libble Rabble (liblrabl) --> Kale
Round 7 --> Ketsui (ket) --> Zerstorung
Round 8 --> Pooyan (pooyan) --> Dax
Round 9 --> Squash (squash) --> empardopo

Until February 25 at 00:00 to upload scores to MARP.
It's not mandatory upload score in each post but now It's mandatory upload the score to MARP and add in the description the word "T12".

From now, you can play any of the 8 games and upload your score to MARP in any order.

The problem there is that I don't see any difference with WCC.
With old tourney format, you were playing 8 games on 8 weeks (or so) and everybody could find time to play (more or less) each game during the period ;
with this format I'm already off : I have 2 full weeks of work around 15-30 of January and no time to play there

Ya, I was thinking that all the games would be announced at once. I really enjoyed that format last time.

This format counts me out as well as, being summer in the Southern Hemisphere, I'll be too busy enjoying holidays and sunshine to be able to play every week.

empardopo, please... take into account what I said when I chose the game CHOPPER I. The default settings in last versions of MAME are incorrect. The default settings of the original arcade machine are only 2 extra lives. This is required in order to avoid the last boss leeching!!!!

And other question... What about Mad Shark 15 extra points for getting the MARP record??

Wish i would have picked games or something these games are horrable! I think the person's games that got picked have a better chance of being the winner. But Oh well....

The games were selected by a lottery!!
I think all the games work well with the 141 version. If everybody uses the same version It's easier view the games, check, etc... It's possible too to use the 106 version.

I don't even want to enter into the debate that five games were *randomly* selected by your comrades (including Chopper I, after the WR fiasco).
Actually, I'm more impressed that THREE + ONE games are vertical shooters (Mad Shark, Chopper I, Ketsui plus Galaga), and another one is technically an horizontal shooter (Pooyan). Even worse than T11, I'm glad that people understands from their errors of the past ...
