Congrats to Des for winning the playoff (yes, I'm assuming no surprise submissions from the other participants :) ) I didn't play much since Wednesday and don't have any improved scores to submit. And, I've got a Superbowl party to go to so that's it for me. Many thanks again to John for GEGOTW! Goo...

Wow, even closer this time, Des...only 900 points! I honestly didn't see your upload until just after I did mine (although from the timestamps, mine was a couple minutes after yours).

Hehe, 6k only, Don
It's only fair...you topped my previous score by only 4K :)
I see that Don decide to use mouse
Yup, need the faster turning on later screens. I still sometimes use the joystick for, though, since it feels more comfortable for me.

Two quick questions: 1. We should be using WolfMAME 106 for all three games, correct? 2. To be eligible for bonus points or the final points, does a player have to beat an existing submission that they already have on MARP? For example, my Star Trek recording from GEGOTW was something like 337K. Do ...

I would say that two of the games are similar enough that it would be worth dropping one of them to get the completely different Centipede in, but since I'm bound to have a pro-Centipede bias I won't even say which two games I'm talking about. Maybe nobody else will see it. I'll say it...Popeye and...

And a question I never thought I would ask:

Don, what size is your dog? (S,XL,2XL)
There's got to be at least 50 good comeback lines for that question....

I guess an XL would be okay, although I have no idea what I'm actually going to do with it.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to have to check out your .inp and see if I can pick up any new strategies on your almost 400K game.
That's only fair since I use a couple techniques that you showed us at Funspot a few years ago :D

Which brings me to wondering what the players of Tutankham call the various enemies. The manual refers to all the enemies as "nasties". Helpful onloooker: "No, you have to wait until..." Me: "I didn't pay my quarter to wait. I can wait for free. I paid to kill stuff." ...

I'm told marathon settings differ in that you can accumulate Flash bombs, carrying unused ones over to the next life. I can't see how to set that in MAME, but don't do it anyway. I wondered about this for a long time too. The manual doesn't make it clear, but as Art Z. mentioned on the classicarcad...

I saw a lot more Round-Up machines than I did Mario Bros.
I never saw or even *heard* of Round-Up until it was in GEGOTW. Granted, I grew up in the sticks of New Hampshire, but I did go to a fair number of different arcades in the New England area.

Mario Bros. was indeed popular, but I would not replace anything on my list with it.
Not even Round-Up? That seems like a no-brainer to me. :)
