So it seems if two individuals are tied with one first place score each, it will be the member with 4182 twelfth place finishes who does better than the member with 4181 twelfth place finishes. Yes, that will certainly discourage uploading of worthless scores. That's missing the point. It wi...

Just a moment - what was I thinking? Almost anyone can get 1st place on at least a few games. Hell, even I have a few 1st place recordings and I hardly ever play any MAME games. With the proposed 'olympic' scheme, as soon as I have any 1st place recordings at all, all my other recordings become irre...

If I understand this method correctly a member with a single first place score (and no others, or the rest crap) would be above a member who had several hundred second place scores, but no firsts. Is that the way we would want it? Yes, why not? If he's capable of getting several hundred 2nd place s...

Re: You must take your place in the circle of stupidity
I'd personally prefer it if points were scrapped completely, and the leaderboard was ordered on the number of 1sts, then 2nds, then 3rds, all the way down until you run out of positions. That's a nice idea. Your 4th place scores only count if you have the same number of 1st, 2nd and 3rd scores as t...

I forgot to vote. NO cutoff please. Gaz. I forgot to vote for NO cutoff, too. I think at first I couldn't work out which way to vote, because the question isn't particularly clear, and then having put off voting I forgot about it. The current leaderboard has an implicit cut off, and it really isn't...

Cut-off after 3rd place is the only way to go. There are 4877 games in MAME .81u4 and more are getting added each week. Cut-off after 5 would be bad. Cut-off after 7 is absolutely ridiculous. Ridiculous in what way? I would be in favour of what was, I think, called proposition 5 - where: 1st place ...

So, what's the real issue here - the leaderboard itself or the submission of sub-par .inps? If the underlying issue is that people submit sub-par recordings, then changing the leaderboard would seem to be completely unnecessary and mostly unrelated. I think the real issue is that there are too many...

You either haven't read my posts about this topic or you didn't understand them. I've read your posts in this thread. I've not understood them all though... [...] not making any change to the current system of awarding leaderboard points. This is unacceptable and should not be an option. I don't un...

Aaarrrggghhh!!! I wish there was a clear way of sorting this out once and for all, but I still can't see it. Having LB points decay over time is a non starter in my opinion. Just because a score is old in no way devalues it. Awarding more points for popular games would just result in the game becomi...
