You're confusing NZ with Australia when it comes to snakes and poisoness spiders. There are zero snakes in NZ and only 1 native poisoness spider...
of course with all those containers coming in there may be some starting to establish themselves eventually......

From memory there is a break in the grass near that gravestone and all you need to do to get the armour to drop down is jump at that spot.

With an appropriate keyboard that has no ghosting/collisions with any of the possible "legal" combinations of the 8 keys you're using, it is definitely easier to play Robotron without using mapped diagonals than it is trying to add in even more buttons for mapped diagonals.
