Re: Benchmarks
Will pull 0.126 from the old box eventually, and hope that it'll run (it should). Might give a better idea as to how much speed is lost simply through MAME shifting from C to C++14 and various emulation improvements over the past 9 years.

Re: Benchmarks
Well, here we go. All I'll say is, MAME seems slower - especially with older drivers that don't need huge power to run. System: 3.7GHz Core i3-6100 Intel HD Graphics 530 8GB RAM Arch Linux (kernel 4.10.11) WolfMAME 0.185 (SDL, 64-bit self-compiled) Commandline options are the same as before. All val...

Re: Benchmarks
Well, I did finally get a new (cheapo) system about a month ago, probably about time this thread was updated.

Re: Vaz - dsaber -32040
That's certainly possible, especially with games that use DIP switches. Games that store settings in NVRAM, though, set their own defaults usually (or have an option to do so), and can still differ between regions.

My answer is more aimed at PP, who seems to have a bit of trouble figuring this out.

Re: Pacmania question
While it is entirely possible for documentation to be wrong, I'd be inclined to think that Namco has gotten difficulty settings pretty much right after using this same difficulty Rank setup for a fair while. You have evidence that the manual is wrong?

Re: Compiling Wolfmame Ubuntu-Errors/Issues/Faults/Correctio
It should work with 'make SUBTARGET=arcade' or just 'make' I would recommend not being logged in as root, this is not needed to build or run MAME, although that shouldn't stop it building. Try adding VERBOSE=1 to the make commandline, this will display each build command. Perhaps something is failin...

Re: MAME 0.184 Game Changes
You just need to open record.bat and playback.bat in a text editor, and change the reference to mamearcade to mamearcade64. Alternatively, you should be able to click on the Raw button on those pages and save them, overwriting the old batch files. Also, ui.tcl will still work, if you have a Tcl/Tk r...

Re: Pacmania question
Why wouldn't they be? MAME runs the arcade game code, after all. DIP switches are just inputs to the game.PP. wrote:You mean that settings in arcades and in mame are always the same?

Re: MAME 0.184 Game Changes
You'll need to edit record.bat and playback.bat to use the new filename. This has been fixed for future releases.

Re: Which Wolfmame stop giving false malicious program alarm
Some of the old EXEs were compressed via UPX, and sometimes that can return a false positive, although I forget exactly when I stopped using it. If you have UPX handy, you should be able to see if it is compressed, and then decompress it. I think I stopped using it around 0.93, and I think I only co...

Re: Which Wolfmame stop giving false malicious program alarm
Downloading anything from http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/ will trip the warning, or at least it does in Firefox and Chrome. You can choose to ignore it if you wish, there shouldn't be anything malicious, the EXEs are just self-extractors. Run it through a virus scanner or something first to be sure, th...
