Re: NJ arcade tournament w/ King of Kong co-stars !

Thanks for the update, Pat. Needless to say, even more great gamers have signed up in the last 2 weeks, and not only is Tim Sczerby committed to coming out, and going for a DK wr, but we might also have Leo Daniels, from the famed Life magazine photo of 'the players in the street' (you all know what...

Re: Classic Arcade Gaming Tourney in IL

Hi MARP'ers, and hi Pat (***PL***). I'm surprised there weren't any responses here. MAME on a PC is great, but playing the original games in an arcade is better ! Here's a write-up I've done with a few additional details: We're less than two weeks away from the third annual edition of the Classic Ar...

This may already have been asked / answered elsewhere, but... why are spam posts not permanently removed, as soon as it's obvious that they're spam posts ? Don't edit them, don't lock the thread... NUKE THEM !!!!!! And, nuke the poster - meaning, delete them as a forum member. Fortunately, I haven't...

Where's my Mark Alpiger t-shirt with him hugging the Crystal Castles machine? I'll thank you to know that I was kissing the game ! I wonder if they consulted any of the guys before using those pics. I wonder how many have sold? Greg Erway told me that all were consulted, tho one has cl...

Now... I'll rewrite the sentence on my bounty page with an overly wordy way of saying what I really intended for others to 'read'. Here it is: And, unlike many other bounties, the amount(s) claimed will be available to be awarded in full (versus payments) within a week of confirmation, either throu...

I haven't checked the TG forums, but, hopefully you've done something similar there (if not, you have my full permission !!). I thought about it, but they instituted that "personal website link" policy this year, and I believe it was pretty much because of you in particular. (I have menti...

Re: We are very close to the end of civilization...

I'm pretty sure this is one of the seven signs of the apocalypse: John, this is beautiful. You picked the perfect pic, out of the six I had up, to bring attention to my bounties ! I even like the joke phrases you picked, for both the thread subject, and the one I quoted here. Believe me, I know the...

The main reason for doing this is because some of the older tapes are simply falling apart. VHS and really old camera tapes aren't a good medium for long term archiving, especially if not continuously maintained. They will have transfer some stuff eventually in order to preserve the footage. I don'...

Thanks for the gentle prodding, everyone, but, mostly because of tax time, I will abdicate my crown of Globmaster... for the moment ! Of course, it doesn't hurt that DBH has taken over - if I'm abdicating, I'll feel better about Don taking over, versus most anyone else ! OK, excuses, excuses ! Actua...

Like if you really devoted yourself to it, women would be fistfighting each other to sleep with you, and major corporations would be in multi-million dollar bidding wars to obtain your endorsement for their products. I also heard that studies recently had indicated that the later levels of Snake Pi...

Oh my goodness... Much better work on that one. If you can improve much beyond that I may be out of my league. I don't want to devote the rest of my life to the game... Hey, I heard Crystal Castles is expected to make a big comeback, you might want to start brushing up on that one just in case... :...

Thanks for the kind words (as always), John. I indeed forgot to delete NVRAM, but remembered on subsequent games, including the one I just uploaded (604,900). Just in case it would somehow help, I included the NVRAM file generated when I played the game. Regarding the 604K game: finally, this was de...

CC and MAME don't mix ???

Hello all - I knew my post would get a few replies ! As has been the case in the past (see http://forums.marpirc.net/viewtopic.php?t=9801 , post #7), JG is eager to hop on me, and assume the worst when I write matter-of-fact commentary, rather than the opposite (as I prefer to do). DBH, as always, i...
