Waterski spamming
Just submitted a score which spams the bonuses at the end of round 3. http://replay.marpirc.net/r/waterski Learned from Alpine Ski spamming, though in that case better players get more value from playing through. In 'waterski' however, spamming here seems like the most profitable strategy. Maybe an ...

Looks like 'foolrace' is actually a rename of 'headonb', yeah?

crush clone renames at 0.178
Howdy, not sure if this is the best place, apologies if not. Anyhoo, according to MAMEINFO.DAT... - 0.178: MASH added clone Crush Roller (set 3). Changed description of clones (set 3) to 'Crush Roller (set 4)' and (set 4) to 'Crush Roller (set 5)'. Renamed (crush4) to (crush5) and (crush3) to (crush...

Always the same questions, just a matter of being quick on the buzzer.

Re: puckman
Just figured out that player 2's left input speeds you up - for pacmanso / pacmansp / pacmanvg that is.
Don't get too excited though - by about the second peach, they're faster than you again... sheesh!

Re: Incorrect submissions on MARP - How to deal with it
Apologies. I assume there are a couple of scores that can't be moved to the fast track because I've already posted higher scores - if it's easier to just zero them for now, I'm OK with that. Actually I think it's just the superabc-upm score that's a problem now. Although I did just find this post......

Re: Gals Panic / Fantasia etc
A further point... just saw the notes left on the galsnewk scoreboard. This game does award 100pts per claimed block, so drawing off many tiny blocks can rack up lots of score. Noting that there is a time limit working against you here, the same time in which you need to clear the level, so it can't...

Re: Gals Panic / Fantasia etc
Sure... something, anything to discourage this genre from being a bit of a farce.
Though you may find self-regulation kicks in with such a penalty - personally I'd rather sacrifice a life than risk a 50% penalty for a completed change screen.
Similar end result, I guess.

Re: Gals Panic / Fantasia etc
Wow, less than 6 hours after I post a 'galsnewk' score, TK trounces mine with the expected technique. Perhaps the extreme view is the simplest - completing a stage while "changed" disqualifies your run. If you've changed, the onus is on you to change back before you cross the % threshold, ...

Re: Gals Panic / Fantasia etc
If we apply a limit to the number of times a level can be completed while changed, you can bet that limit will be exploited as much as possible... so that's not ideal. A progress reward is employed for some games... maybe that? Or a penalty if a round is completed while changed? Maybe just enough of...

Gals Panic / Fantasia etc
There's plenty of submissions in these series where the model is deliberately "changed" before the % threshold is achieved. This has the effect of being able to repeat early/easier levels many times to greatly increase score with minimal increase in difficulty - I suspect this could be don...

Re: Updating the MARP site
Do we need more supporting resources? Like for confirms? I can help with that. I may regret offering... :| Also for finding things like scoreboards that need to me moved due to set renames. Or finding when important defaults change (do we care about that?). I already have my eyes open for them thing...

Game Configuration / Machine Configuration sub-menu
Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere... Some titles have had their settings moved to the Game/Machine Configuration sub-menu. e.g. tengai used to store Region in the DIPs menu until 0.149u1 bgaregga - Region, Continue & Stage Edit were moved to Game Configuration at around 0.148 ... wh...
