WRX2, if a recording comes in using AlphaMAME, then it is very likely to be 100% genuine. There is therefore little need for confirmers to confirm it - the fact it was *recorded in AlphaMAME speaks for itself*. ;-) Just as another thing to understand (to help you with the editors): when someone new ...

Hi WRX2, I am a confirmer here at MARP. I am paid no money to perform this service - neither is anyone else here at MARP, confirmers, editors, from what I gather, even the owner(s) don't get any money from this site. It is entirely voluntary. To understand why some scores get confirmed quickly and o...

Let me give a ficticious example. Two players compete on the same three-stage course & each complete two stages at 30 second and one stage at 2 minutes. The first player completes the first two at 30 second and the third at 2 minutes. The game would show the following records: Stage one record: ...

Lode Runner The Dig Fight (loderndf) Score Change Needed

Hi all, Due to having a really crap game on loderndf-g3, it has come to my attention that the scoring system for loderndf needs a minor alteration. The time indicated at the end of each level is the total time taken. Take my inp, I definitely did not take 19 minutes to complete the last level - it's...

Dead Link

Was looking for some ancient stuff to confirm & stumbled across this:

http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/kra_pbaction.zip

http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... 00&tourn=0

It's a dead link as far as I can tell.

LN2: yeah that kind of stuff is already used in PGP for e-mail... you're basically referring to signing the inp. Basic concept: after the file is recorded, take a digest of the inp (MD5, SHA1, or other high-level Hash), then encrypt that hash value with the public key. This could easily be appended ...

There's a problem with releasing the encryption code for any of the platforms. If the code is released, the knowledge of how to work around to get a cheated inp into AlphaMAME spec inp would become public (even if few MARPers could figure it out). If ports are to be made, then the encryption code mu...

Add to all this that the more complex an encyption algorithm gets (complex does not necessarily mean good), the more tendancy it has to munch on your CPU time for playing the game. Which in turn would impact on the program's usefulness in competitions featuring lots of slower machines.

My Voodoo Banshee copes happily with MAME CLI / MAME 32. It's my crappy monitor that forces me to stay at 800x600. :(

With games I enjoy I tend to go through patches of real frustration. For example, Invinco - invinco, invds & invho - I cannot get a as far on the original as I can on the other two. Repeating this kind of frustration leads me to hammer the keyboard. I've had a few keyboards in my time. :( Additi...

Cassette: Night Star (Set 2) (cnights2)
